Description
A quick and comforting snack that combines crispy bread with creamy cottage cheese and bubbling cheese, ideal for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 4–6 slices bread (sourdough, whole-grain, or bagels)
- 1–2 tbsp tomato sauce (marinara or pizza sauce) per slice
- 2 tbsp cottage cheese per slice
- 1/4–1/3 cup shredded mozzarella or other melting cheese per 4–6 slices
- Pinch of Italian seasoning (oregano/basil blend) per slice
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange bread slices in a single layer in the basket.
- Spread a generous layer of tomato sauce over each slice.
- Spoon a scoop of cottage cheese onto each sauced slice and gently spread.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the cottage cheese and season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Cook in the air fryer for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden.
- Remove carefully and let cool for a minute before serving warm.
Notes
Use ricotta instead of cottage cheese for a smoother texture. Low-moisture mozzarella can reduce sogginess. Vegan options like tofu ricotta work for dairy-free versions.
