Description
Warm, melty baked ham and cheese croissants made with store-bought croissants or crescent dough, perfect for a cozy meal.
Ingredients
- 6 large store-bought croissants or 1 roll refrigerated crescent dough
- 6–8 slices thin deli ham (about 6–8 oz / 170–225 g)
- 6–8 slices cheese (Swiss, Gruyère, or sharp cheddar)
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (optional)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional garnish: chopped chives or parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- If using whole croissants, slice each horizontally but leave one side attached. For refrigerated dough, follow the package instructions.
- Spread a thin layer of butter and/or Dijon mustard on the interior of the croissant.
- Layer 1–2 slices of ham inside each croissant and top with a slice of cheese. Season with black pepper.
- Close each croissant and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Place croissants on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted. Optionally, broil for 30–60 seconds for extra crispness.
- Let rest for 2 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For best results, use day-old croissants for optimal texture. Adjust ham and cheese types to your preference. Serve warm for the best gooey experience.
