Description

Warm, melty baked ham and cheese croissants made with store-bought croissants or crescent dough, perfect for a cozy meal.

Ingredients

  • 6 large store-bought croissants or 1 roll refrigerated crescent dough
  • 68 slices thin deli ham (about 68 oz / 170225 g)
  • 68 slices cheese (Swiss, Gruyère, or sharp cheddar)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using whole croissants, slice each horizontally but leave one side attached. For refrigerated dough, follow the package instructions.
  3. Spread a thin layer of butter and/or Dijon mustard on the interior of the croissant.
  4. Layer 1–2 slices of ham inside each croissant and top with a slice of cheese. Season with black pepper.
  5. Close each croissant and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  6. Place croissants on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  7. Bake for 10–15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted. Optionally, broil for 30–60 seconds for extra crispness.
  8. Let rest for 2 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For best results, use day-old croissants for optimal texture. Adjust ham and cheese types to your preference. Serve warm for the best gooey experience.
