Description

A comforting baked spaghetti casserole with sausage, creamy cheese, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for weeknights and potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz thin spaghetti noodles
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 5 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian herb blend
  • 1 lb Italian sausage or ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 24 oz jarred spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente, drain, and set aside.
  3. Brown the sausage or ground beef in a skillet, drain excess fat, and return meat to the pan.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and Parmesan, then mix in melted butter, sour cream, cream cheese, garlic, and Italian herbs until smooth.
  5. Fold spaghetti and cooked meat into the creamy mixture, then gently add the spaghetti sauce.
  6. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish and top with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until bubbling. Broil for 1-3 minutes for a golden top.
  8. Let rest for 8-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a lighter texture, substitute cream cheese with ricotta. To make it vegetarian, use plant-based crumbles or mushrooms.
