Description

Beer brats blend hearty bratwurst with the rich flavors of beer, making them the perfect comfort food for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 package bratwurst sausages
  • 1 bottle lager or ale beer
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • Mustard, to taste
  • Soft, fresh buns
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the bratwurst to the skillet.
  4. Pour enough beer to cover the sausages completely.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  6. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  7. Transfer bratwurst to the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until browned.
  8. Serve in buns, topped with caramelized onions and mustard.

Notes

Feel free to use non-alcoholic beer or different mustard varieties. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
