Description
A rich and creamy bisque made with sweet crab meat and tender shrimp, perfect for cozy evenings or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb crab meat
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 cups seafood stock
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion, minced garlic, celery, and carrots until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and scrape the bottom of the pot to deglaze. Continue cooking until the wine has reduced by half, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Add the seafood stock alongside thyme, salt, and pepper, and bring everything to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the crab meat and shrimp, allowing them to cook until the shrimp turns pink and is opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
- Reduce the heat and mix in the heavy cream, stirring gently until incorporated.
- Allow the bisque to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, adjusting the seasoning as needed.
- Serve the bisque hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh seafood if possible. Consider sautéing some diced fennel with the vegetables or adding a splash of lemon juice before serving.
