Description

A comforting homemade granola recipe that is budget-friendly, healthy, and easily customizable.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup nut butter (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins, dried cranberries, or chopped apricots)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss together the rolled oats, nuts, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, warm the honey or maple syrup with the nut butter until it’s pourable. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well until everything is coated.
  5. Spread the mixture in a thin layer on the prepared baking sheet and press down gently with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden and toasty.
  7. Fold in the dried fruit once out of the oven.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into chunks and storing in an airtight container.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For longer storage, freeze portions in zip-top bags.
