Description
Delicious Korean BBQ meatballs with a sweet-spicy umami punch, perfect for weeknight dinners or parties.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or leaner)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil (toasted if preferred)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently but thoroughly, ensuring not to overwork the meat.
- Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway, until meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest for 2–3 minutes; garnish with green onions and serve hot.
Notes
Serve with rice, in slider buns, or on skewers for easy appetizers. Can be made gluten-free with tamari and gluten-free breadcrumbs.
