An easy, savory quick bread that comes together in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients, perfect for soups, sandwiches, or as a last-minute snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
- Optional add-ins: chopped fresh herbs, grated cheese, garlic powder or onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Make a well in the dry mix and pour in milk, olive oil, and honey. Stir until a shaggy dough forms and fold in add-ins if desired.
- Shape the dough into a round about 1 inch thick on a floured surface.
- Transfer to the baking sheet and score the top with a knife if desired.
- Bake for about 15 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
Best enjoyed warm with butter and jam, or alongside soups. If adding wet mix-ins, reduce milk by 1–2 tablespoons.
