A rich and creamy Seafood Gratin featuring tender shrimp and succulent scallops enveloped in a luscious cream sauce, baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb scallops, patted dry
- 2 cups heavy cream (or half-and-half + 2 tablespoons butter)
- 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyère or Swiss)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh crusty bread or cooked pasta, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a medium baking dish.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Add shrimp and scallops, cooking until opaque (2-3 minutes), then season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.
- Whisk together heavy cream, chopped parsley, and half of the grated cheese in a bowl.
- Layer the cooked seafood in the baking dish, pour the cream mixture over, and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional parsley.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine while cooking the seafood. Experiment with different cheeses for variety.
