Description

A rich and creamy Seafood Gratin featuring tender shrimp and succulent scallops enveloped in a luscious cream sauce, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb scallops, patted dry
  • 2 cups heavy cream (or half-and-half + 2 tablespoons butter)
  • 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyère or Swiss)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh crusty bread or cooked pasta, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a medium baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  3. Add shrimp and scallops, cooking until opaque (2-3 minutes), then season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.
  4. Whisk together heavy cream, chopped parsley, and half of the grated cheese in a bowl.
  5. Layer the cooked seafood in the baking dish, pour the cream mixture over, and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until top is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional parsley.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine while cooking the seafood. Experiment with different cheeses for variety.
