Description

A quick and satisfying meal that brings vibrant flavors and a delightful kick, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood stock
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Cooked white rice, grits, or crusty bread (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and optional cayenne pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and remaining spices. Gradually mix in chicken or seafood stock while stirring to combine.
  4. Add seasoned shrimp to the sauce and cook for 3-5 minutes, until shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  5. Adjust seasoning with hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in fresh parsley before serving. Plate over rice, grits, or with crusty bread and lemon wedges.

Notes

Let shrimp marinate with spices for 30 minutes for deeper flavors. Feel free to add sliced smoked sausage for extra texture.
