Description

A simple and delicious homemade sandwich bread that fills your kitchen with the comforting scent of freshly baked bread. Perfect for any meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2-3/4 teaspoons yeast (or 1 packet plus 1/2 teaspoon)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Combine hot water and sugar in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it bloom for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Transfer the yeast mixture to a stand mixer and gradually add the vegetable oil, salt, and flour—one cup at a time.
  3. Continue mixing for another 3-4 minutes until the dough clings to the hook and is no longer sticky.
  4. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a draft-free area for about 90 minutes until it doubles in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into an oval loaf. Position it seam-side down in a greased loaf pan and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise again until almost doubled, about one hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the loaf for around 25 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 190°F (88°C).

Notes

For a healthier loaf, feel free to substitute in whole wheat flour for half or all of the all-purpose flour. Honey can replace sugar for natural sweetness.
