Description

A delightful breakfast casserole featuring rich cream cheese, plump blueberries, and soft, buttery bread, perfect for brunch or a cozy family breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (French or brioche)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and layer half of them at the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese with the blueberries, then spoon this mixture over the first layer of bread cubes.
  4. Add the remaining bread cubes on top of the cream cheese and blueberry mixture.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread layers.
  6. Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes covered, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and set.
  8. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Consider drizzling additional maple syrup or serving with fresh berries for garnish. Can be made dairy-free with substitutions.
