Description
A delightful breakfast that transforms ordinary mornings with heart-shaped slices of brioche or Texas toast soaked in a rich custard and fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (brioche or Texas toast)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Butter (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Fresh berries (for serving)
Instructions
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut each slice of bread into heart shapes.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter.
- Dip each heart-shaped bread into the egg mixture, ensuring each piece soaks up the goodness for a few seconds.
- Place the soaked bread onto the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve warm, generously dusted with powdered sugar and topped with fresh berries.
Notes
For a healthier twist, try whole grain or gluten-free bread. Make sure the bread is slightly stale to help it soak up the egg mixture without falling apart.
