Description

A delightful breakfast that transforms ordinary mornings with heart-shaped slices of brioche or Texas toast soaked in a rich custard and fried to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (brioche or Texas toast)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh berries (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut each slice of bread into heart shapes.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter.
  4. Dip each heart-shaped bread into the egg mixture, ensuring each piece soaks up the goodness for a few seconds.
  5. Place the soaked bread onto the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Serve warm, generously dusted with powdered sugar and topped with fresh berries.

Notes

For a healthier twist, try whole grain or gluten-free bread. Make sure the bread is slightly stale to help it soak up the egg mixture without falling apart.
