Description

A hearty breakfast casserole featuring layers of ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and bread soaked in a creamy egg custard.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (white or brioche recommended)
  • 4 ounces of sliced ham
  • 4 ounces of sliced turkey
  • 4 ounces of Swiss cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Jam for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  3. Layer half of the bread slices in the bottom of the greased dish.
  4. Top the bread with the layers of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese.
  5. Add the remaining bread slices on top to create a delicious seal.
  6. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  7. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered ingredients in the dish.
  8. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight.
  9. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving and enjoy with warm jam.

Notes

Use day-old bread or lightly toast the slices for better texture. Customize with different meats and cheeses to suit personal preferences.
