Description
A hearty breakfast casserole featuring layers of ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and bread soaked in a creamy egg custard.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread (white or brioche recommended)
- 4 ounces of sliced ham
- 4 ounces of sliced turkey
- 4 ounces of Swiss cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Powdered sugar for serving
- Jam for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Layer half of the bread slices in the bottom of the greased dish.
- Top the bread with the layers of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese.
- Add the remaining bread slices on top to create a delicious seal.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered ingredients in the dish.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving and enjoy with warm jam.
Notes
Use day-old bread or lightly toast the slices for better texture. Customize with different meats and cheeses to suit personal preferences.
