Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (for Custard)
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 large Egg Yolks
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each fully before the next.
  5. Add the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and milk alternately until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Prepare the custard by whisking together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepan.
  9. Stir in the milk and cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  10. Once thick, remove from heat and cool slightly before adding strawberries.
  11. Layer the custard and strawberries between the cooled cake layers and top with more strawberries.
  12. Chill the assembled cake before serving.

Notes
