A delightful dessert featuring layers of sweet strawberries, fluffy whipped cream, and soft cake, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 lb pound cake or sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (optional)
- Fresh strawberries and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Combine sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Stir well and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. If using cream cheese, beat it separately until smooth, then fold into the whipped cream.
- Cut the cake into 1-inch cubes.
- Layer the ingredients in a large trifle bowl, starting with a layer of cake cubes, followed by some strawberries and syrup, then a layer of whipped cream.
- Repeat the layering process until the bowl is filled, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Decorate the top with fresh strawberries and mint leaves.
- Chill the trifle for at least 60 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve in individual cups or in a large bowl for a centerpiece. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
