Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar for strawberries
- Whipped cream, optional for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk just until moistened.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for a few minutes to macerate.
- Once the biscuits are baked, split them in half, layer with strawberries, and top with whipped cream if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure your butter is super cold for more tender biscuits. Don’t overmix the batter; a few lumps are fine.
