Description
A delightful blend of warm French toast and fresh blueberries, perfect for brunch or breakfast gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- Butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the French bread into cubes and arrange them evenly in the prepared dish.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until blended. Pour this mixture over the bread, making sure all pieces are well-coated.
- Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, being careful to avoid mashing them.
- Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or, for best results, overnight.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
- Serve warm, and consider a drizzle of maple syrup for an extra sweet finish!
Notes
Use day-old French bread for better soaking. Don’t skip the maple syrup topping for the best flavor!
