Description

A delightful blend of warm French toast and fresh blueberries, perfect for brunch or breakfast gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • Butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the French bread into cubes and arrange them evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until blended. Pour this mixture over the bread, making sure all pieces are well-coated.
  4. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, being careful to avoid mashing them.
  5. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or, for best results, overnight.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  7. Serve warm, and consider a drizzle of maple syrup for an extra sweet finish!

Notes

Use day-old French bread for better soaking. Don’t skip the maple syrup topping for the best flavor!
